2014 Tire Recall Roundup

In 2014, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced several recalls for tires. From tread separation to incorrect markings, tires were recalled for a variety of problems in 2014.

Dynamic Tire Towmax STR

Dynamic Tire Corporation recalled 17,369 tires because of inaccurate load capacity and inflation pressure information markings. Misleading information could increase the risk of overinflating tires, leading to a possible blowout.

Bluestar

In November 2014, China Manufacturers Alliance recalled several Bluestar LQ225 tires because of a problem that could result in the development of sidewall blisters. Continental Tire the Americas

In 2014, Continental Tire also recalled a series of motorcycle tires from their ContiAttack line because of the potential for tread separation between the tread, belt and carcass.

Capitol Tires

Yet another tread separation case. ITG VOMA Corporation recalled several Capitol Precision Trac II tires because of the potential for tread separation increasing the risk of loss of control over the vehicle and an accident.

Cooper Tire and Rubber Company

Also in 2014, Cooper recalled several Wild Country Radial XTX Sport tires because of defects that could cause cracking of the ply toward the white sidewall side.
