Most of us have had an instance where we’ve been driving along an interstate and realized that our exit was coming up sooner than we thought, forcing us to merge across several lanes of traffic. In traffic jams, we’ve seen drivers try and get over right as their exit comes up. In order to ensure that you are prepared to get off at your exit safely, you should be in the proper lane well before the exit. You should also avoid beginning to slow down until you are on the exit ramp. If you realize that your exit is coming up and you are in the left lanes, you might want to go to the next exit and turn around. Never try and back up.
Florida Today reports that a driver crossed several lanes to get to his exit, hitting a disabled vehicle. The crash occurred in the early morning hours of August 16th.
