Motorcyclists often take their hobby or their vehicles very seriously. For many, it is a lifestyle, and there are clubs–both legal and not so legal–and many bike rallies held across the nation. One of the most famous bike rallies is the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, held annually in Sturgis, South Dakota. Another is the Daytona Beach Bike Week. Daytona Beach Bike Week has been held annually since 1937, with an exception of the years 1942 to 1947 due to World War II. Each year, there are a number of reported deaths at the event, with 2006 having the highest death toll at 20.

The crash occurred early on Tuesday, March 10th, during Bike Week in Daytona, Florida.
Three motorcycles were involved in the crash and three people were killed. The incident occurred on International Speedway Drive in Daytona Beach.
An unnamed 46-year-old woman and a 47-year old man from New York were riding the same bike in the accident. Both were killed. Also killed was a 65-year-old male from Missouri.
The rider who was operating the third bike, a 55-year-old Missouri man, informed police that he and the other male from Missouri were traveling in one lane. The couple on the other bike was traveling in the same direction in another lane.
The couple crossed into the path of the older rider from Missouri. The ensuing crash knocked all three people off of their bikes.
The younger Missouri man’s bike was clipped by one of the other motorcycles. He suffered from minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
