Florida Today reported on a tragic accident in Osceola County in which four people, three from Palm Bay, were killed in a car crash and another seriously injured in poor weather conditions.
The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday when a 47-year-old Palm Bay woman was southbound on US Highway 441 near Bavar Road. For unknown reasons, the driver veered off the roadway, over-corrected, and rolled into the northbound lanes into the path of a pickup truck pulling a trailer, according to investigators for the Florida Highway Patrol. The pickup truck T-boned the sedan on the right or passenger side, which forced the truck to overturn.
Paramedics arrived quickly, within minutes, but the driver of the sedan, as well as two sixteen-year-old passengers, one male and one female, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. A fourth 11-year-old passenger was transported by medical helicopter to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Investigators noted that all four passengers of the sedan were seat belted in.
The pickup truck’s driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead after being medically transported to a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
