Channel 4 CBS News Miami reported on a deadly crash that shut the Palmetto Expressway’s southern lanes down Tuesday afternoon.
A woman was apparently driving a white Mercedes-Benz SUV southbound on the Palmetto Expressway near 36th Street in Doral when the driver lost control for unknown reasons. The vehicle overturned, ejecting the driver who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. She has not been identified in statements released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the incident. The highway was reopened around 6:00 p.m. after the accident was investigated and cleared, but traffic remained congested for several hours longer due to the aftereffects of the traffic snarl.
A pastor from Northside Assembly of God in Bonifay, Florida was killed in a Monday accident while en route to work with Convoy of Hope in relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Laura, according to KATC Channel 3 News. The pastor and another church volunteer were en route when a tire blew out on their van, causing it to flip several times. The pastor was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident; the other man was hospitalized and suffered a punctured lung and multiple broken limbs, but is expected to recover.
