Alligator Wins Battle With Car

WTVX West Palm Channel 34 The CW News reported recently that a local alligator was hit by a car in Cocoa, Florida, but fortunately, the alligator survived the impact and is reportedly in good health. 

Spokespeople with the Cocoa Police Department say that a driver was on US Highway 1 near its intersection with Dixon Boulevard Friday when it impacted an alligator who was in the roadway. The alligator is reportedly OK and crews with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to assist the alligator in moving to a safer area. However, the car did suffer damage as a result of the impact, according to officials. 

Spokespeople for the alligator allegedly touted the victory by the gator over his vanquished opponent, reportedly screaming “come at us bro” at other cars as they attempted to traverse the area. 

In other news of Florida wildlife, according to The Washington Newsday, a horse named Buddy Bear was rescued after falling into a septic tank in Marion County, FL. Officials from the Marion County Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the Belleview property to rescue the horse after it fell into an open septic tank and was unable to climb out. 

The agency’s special forces units, HAZMAT Heavy Rescue 1 and Technical Rescue Team Heavy Rescue 2, were able to use fire hose to make a harness around the horse and pull it to solid ground. A veterinarian was called to the scene and completed a full examination of the horse after he was recovered. Fire Dept spokespeople stated the horse was not seriously injured and would make a full recovery from the harrowing ordeal.
