Channel 4 News Jax reported that two men were killed early Saturday morning in Jacksonville when their car impacted a concrete pole according to the Florida Highway Patrol, while a third was hospitalized with severe injuries after being ejected from the vehicle at high velocity.
The incident occurred on Saturday, November 7, in the early morning hours at the intersection of 103rd Street and Rucker Road. A car was speeding eastbound on 103rd Street when, for unknown reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control and hit the pole. The impact was forceful enough to wrap the car around the pole and knock the pole partially over.
The driver and front passenger, both men 32 years of age, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, 22 years of age, was medically transported to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Orange Park Medical Center.
Reports from family members of the victims stated that the three men were all cousins. Troopers stated none of them were properly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Per Florida Highway Patrol policy, the identities of the victims were not released to the press, and no other details have been released at the current time.
