The Villages News reported recently that an Ocklawaha man was seriously injured, a Beverly Hills man critically injured, and a Dunnellon man killed in a car accident in Alachua County last Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon when an Ocklawaha man, 46 years of age, was driving a pickup truck westbound on State Road 20 in Alachua County. According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, he collided with a sedan driven by a 22-year-old Dunnellon man.
The sedan driver was transported to University of Florida Health Shands in Gainesville, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His passenger, a Beverly Hills man 21 years of age, was medically transported to a hospital in critical condition, while the pickup driver was also transported to a hospital in serious to critical condition. Another Ocklawaha man, 25 years of age, was a passenger in the pickup and was fortunate to escape the incident with only minor injuries.
All four men involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the accident report filed by responding police officers.
Due to Florida Highway Patrol policy, individuals involved in traffic accidents are no longer identified in reports made to the press.
