The Tampa Bay Reporter reported recently that a Clearwater man has been arrested and charged for his alleged role in a hit and run car accident on the afternoon of Saturday, January 2nd in Clearwater.
According to officials with local law enforcement, the incident took place on the afternoon of Saturday, January 2, 2021 between 3:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) near the intersection of Eldridge Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in the city of Clearwater. The victim, whose identity was unreleased, was riding a three-wheeled motorcycle when he was struck by the suspect, a man from Clearwater 36 years of age. He was airlifted to Bayfront Health St Petersburg by medical helicopter for treatment in serious condition.
The suspect allegedly fled after the crash and parked his car in the 1100 block of Drew Street. He has been arrested and charged with one count each of Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License, Driving Under the Influence, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Injury. The accident is still under investigation and eyewitnesses or those with relevant info are asked to contact authorities with any information that may be helpful to the investigation.
