Fox Channel 4 Southwest Florida News Now reported recently that a motor vehicle accident in Punta Gorda, FL involving two semis led to the death of a truck driver on Monday, April 12, 2021.
According to officials from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred along Bermont Road near Punta Gorda on the morning of Monday, April 12, 2021. A tractor-trailer was heading east on Bermont Road while a second tractor-trailer was headed west along the same road. The eastbound semi, for unknown reasons still under investigation, crossed the centerline of the roadway and the front left sides of the two semis made contact, causing a forceful collision that sent both trucks careening onto the shoulders of the road. The driver of the first semi, a man from Hialeah fifty years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The Daily Ridge reported that a woman from Winter Haven, FL was killed on Monday, April 12, 2021 in a single-vehicle accident near the 3200 block of Spirit Lake Road.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the woman, forty years of age, was driving a black 2019 Kia Sportage north on Spirit Lake Road when for unknown reasons still under investigation, she drove off the shoulder of the road and into a tree. She was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
