Davie Man Rolls SUV in Crash Near The Villages

A rollover crash is one of the most frightening types of accident to be in. It isn’t just SUVs or large trucks that are prone to rollovers; any vehicle has the potential to roll over. When a rollover crash happens, the chance of suffering a significant injury or even death is higher than for any other type of accident. 

The Villages News reported on Wednesday that the accident happened on the evening of Tuesday, June 29, at approximately 6:00 p.m. near the entrance of the Mallory Country Club in Mallory.

A 67-year-old male driver from the Village of Amelia was heading southbound on Morse Boulevard, his 2020 Lincoln Corsair SUV, when he unsuccessfully negotiated a curve at the roundabout with Odell Circle. 

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol said that the triggered rollover happened when the SUV’s right-front tire struck the roundabout curb. Having lost control of his vehicle, the SUV rolled, landed on its roof, and struck a tree located inside the median of the roundabout.

The force of the impact caused the Cadillac’s driver-side airbag to deploy. 

A second vehicle, a sedan, was also involved in the accident. The SUV driver told FHP troopers that the driver of the other car pulled out in front of him, but he does not remember much else.

Authorities say that only minor injuries were reported in connection to the crash.

The accident is currently under investigation.
