Chalik & Chalik Support the South Plantation High DECA Club

The Chalik & Chalik law firm is proud to announce the sponsorship of the South Plantation High School’s DECA Club. This local branch of the national marketing club has been in existence at the school since Jason was a student. Mr. Jerry Holt, a teacher at South Plantation when Jason was a student, has sponsored the club all of these years.

South Plantation High’s DECA Club boasts over 200 members that compete in national competitions throughout the year. Through sponsorships from individuals and businesses like Chalik & Chalik, the students are able to travel to competitions to compete and bring home honors for themselves and their school.

South Plantation High’s DECA program began as a fashion marketing class and was transformed into an official chapter of the national DECA association in 1987. Once the chapter was official, the students began entering state and national conference competitions. To date, the South Plantation DECA team has had 230 winners at state level competitions and placed in the top three levels for international competitions.

Participation in the program has allowed the student members to improve their marketing skills and see some great sights at the same time!

Over the years the South Plantation team has traveled to

  • Atlanta;
  • Louisville;
  • St. Louis;
  • Dallas;
  • Denver;
  • Salt Lake City; and
  • Orlando.

 

The South Plantation team is just a sample of the reach of this outstanding professional development program. Internationally, there are over 200,000 members, 8,000 in Florida alone, and many come from other countries such as Canada and Japan. Broward County boasts 2,100 members and South Plantation is proud to have served as home to 15 state officers (four state presidents and 11 state vice presidents).

This year South Plantation High’s DECA team attended several events such as the Emerging Leaders Summit in Orlando. The students work hard to get the opportunities to compete and learn at these conferences, and sponsors like Chalik & Chalik ensure they have the funding to get there!
