In Pinellas Park, Florida, a man from Tampa faces the charge of driving while intoxicated in a motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
According to the Tampa Bay Reporter, Lawrence Michael Wagner, age 56, of St. Petersburg, was declared dead at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Anthony Robert Davis, age 25, faces charges of DUI manslaughter and DUI personal injury damage to personal property.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, March 12, at the intersection of Gandy Boulevard and Grand Avenue. Pinellas Park police stated that Davis, who was headed west in a Ford Mustang, made an incorrect lane change and drove through a red left turn arrow while attempting to make a U-turn to drive east on Gandy. In so doing, he entered the path of Wagner, who was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, and Roshell Rivas, who was driving a Ford Mustang.
Both vehicles hit Davis’ car, thereby causing Wagner to be ejected from his motorcycle. Both Davis and Rival were uninjured. Police said Davis displayed symptoms of impairment while he was talking to officers at the scene. They performed a DUI investigation and later placed him under arrest.
