PRODUCT LIABILITY IN TIRE BLOWOUT ACCIDENTS
Generally speaking, companies that manufacture consumer goods have a responsibility to create products that are reasonably safe for consumers to use. This also applies to companies that manufacture the tires that we use for our cars. If a tire manufacturer creates a product that is not reasonably safe and it causes an accident, the company may be held liable. A tire may be defective in the way that it is (1) marketed, (2) designed or (3) manufactured. A number of defective tires have lead to blowout accidents which may cause serious injury or even death. During a tire blowout (or tread separation) the inner tread and the steel belting section may separate due to not being chemically bonded properly. Any person injured in such an accident may have a right to file a products liability claim against the manufacturer of the tire.
