The CW Channel 34 News and WPBF Channel 25 ABC News reported recently that a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Delray Beach on the evening of Thursday, January 28.
According to officials with the Delray Beach Police Department, the incident took place on Thursday, January 28, 2021 between 6:25 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) along Germantown Road near the intersection of Germantown Road and Homewood Boulevard. The vehicle that hit the bicyclist was a newer-model Jeep Grand Cherokee in a granite gray color and sustained damage to its front end.
Delray Beach Fire Rescue rushed the bicyclist to a local hospital while police searched for the vehicle, asking eyewitnesses to call the Traffic Homicide Department at (561) 243-7800 with information. However, police were able to locate the driver and vehicle suspected of hitting the bicyclist, and that driver is reportedly in custody.
The Daily Ridge reported that a motor vehicle accident occurred on Friday, January 29, 2021 near the intersection of Florida Highway 557 and Old Polk City Road, south of Interstate 4, northwest of Haines City, and northeast of Lakeland, just outside the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area. The roadway was blocked by the accident and traffic was rerouted. There was no information released as to injuries.
