The CW 34 WTVX West Palm News reported recently on a hit-and-run accident in Vero Beach in which police are still looking for the vehicle that fled the scene.
The crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. in Vero Beach at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 20th Place. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle, a boxy silver SUV, or of the owner of the vehicle, should contact Officer James Ooley of the Vero Beach Police Department at (772) 978-4979.
The Herald-Tribune reports on a fatal crash in Sarasota County early Tuesday that claimed the life of a local pedestrian.
The Florida Highway Patrol stated that a pickup truck driven by a 56-year-old Sarasota man was driving west on Bee Ridge Road just before 6:30 a.m., approaching the intersection with Beneva Road. A 37-year-old Sarasota man was crossing Bee Ridge headed north at the same time, and he failed to stay in the designated crosswalk. The truck collided with the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The truck driver was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the accident. The Florida Highway Patrol has not issued identities or other further information about the accident.
