No one ever gets up in the morning and heads to work with the idea that they may get hurt on the job. A workplace accident can happen at any time resulting in severe injury or worse. Even if companies and their employees take every safety precaution, the unexpected can happen.
Afterward, in addition to being off the job, navigating through all the expenses and red tape from insurance companies can become a family’s worst nightmare.
NBC Miami reports that a 51-year-old man has tragically died after falling from a ladder on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, the man was a construction worker who was working on some maintenance repairs at Northeast High School in Oakland Park.
Eyewitnesses to the incident said that the victim was standing on the third step of the ladder when he fell backward off of the ladder. Authorities suspect that the construction worker may have suffered a possible medical emergency before his fall.
Emergency crews arrived at the high school and rushed the man to Broward Health Hospital. The man was reported to have died shortly after his arrival at the medical center.
While no foul play is suspected, the incident is still currently under investigation.
On behalf of the Chalik Law Firm, our attorneys and staff wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the worker’s family during this difficult time.
