News Channel 6 / Click Orlando reported recently that a motorcycle;crash along busy U.S. Highway 1 in Cocoa on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 24, 2021, left a local motorist in critical condition with injuries believed to be life-threatening.
According to officials with the Cocoa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 along U.S. Federal Highway 1 near Peachtree Street in Cocoa, a town along Florida’s coast near the Kennedy Space Center. The incident involved a motorcycle and at least one other vehicle and shut down parts of U.S. 1 in what first responders described as a ‘serious’ collision. Traffic was redirected to westbound Peachtree Street until lanes were reopened around 5:30 p.m.
The accident is currently under investigation and no other information was available.
WFLA News Channel 8 reported that a Sarasota County accident occurred on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in which a young girl, 8 years of age, was struck by a motor vehicle while riding a scooter, causing serious injuries.
The incident occurred on Brookmeade Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, and the victim was flown to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating authorities.
