ClickOrlando.com / WKMG News Channel 6 reported recently that a motorcycle passenger was killed on the morning of Sunday, March 14, 2021 in Daytona Beach in a tragic motor vehicle accident near the Daytona Motor Speedway.
According to officials with the Daytona Beach Police Department, the incident took place on the morning of Sunday, March 14, 2021 in Daytona Beach, FL, along U.S. Highway 92 (International Speedway Boulevard.) A 2000 Toyota RAV4 SUV and a 2013 Harley Davidson Softail motorcycle were involved.
Both vehicles were reportedly in the far right outside lane of U.S. 92 when the Toyota collided with the rear of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, a man 18 years of age, and his passenger, a New Hampshire woman 39 years of age, were knocked off the bike. The woman was killed by her impact with the road and was declared dead at the accident scene, while the man was rushed to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening. The two motorcycle riders were not wearing helmets.
Toxicology samples were taken from the driver of the Toyota after the responding authors noted signs of possible impairment. The accident remains under investigation.
