Patch reported recently that a woman from New Port Richey was killed Tuesday morning while bicycling in Hudson after being struck by a motor vehicle.
According to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place between 7:20 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Tuesday, December 22 along Florida State Route 54 in Hudson west of Virginia Avenue, A woman from New Port Richey, 27 years of age, was driving her car east on FL SR 54 when she entered the path of the bicyclist, causing a collision. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her wounds on Wednesday, December 23.
The North Port Sun reported that a North Port driver was killed early on Thursday, December 24 in a tragic Christmas Eve car wreck. The incident took place between 2:10 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. EST when a man 33 years of age failed to negotiate a turn on Raymond Road just south of Palmer Boulevard in Sarasota, according to troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol. He was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene of the accident. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the FHP.
