CBS Channel 47/Fox Channel 30 Action News Jax reported recently on a semi-truck accident
that left multiple motorists injured.
The accident took place on Monday afternoon, between 3 and 4 p.m. according to tweets from
the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, on Interstate 95 southbound shortly before 8th
street. A semi-truck and at least one car were involved.
The semi collided with the car and was forced over the embankment of the overpass. The cab
fell around 20 feet down beside the highway while tipping the trailer sideways onto I-95, partially
blocking the highway. At least one victim was trapped, requiring extraction by rescue units, and
multiple others were medically transported to local hospitals with varying degrees of injuries.
Details surrounding the condition of victims and their identities have not been made available,
and the accident remains under investigation.
The Villages News reported another unfortunate accident Tuesday that led to an injured
motorist. A woman left the Laurel Manor Recreation Center in The Villages around 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday morning, and attempted to turn south on Buena Vista Boulevard, just south of County
Road 466. According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, she pulled into the path of another
vehicle and was transported to UF Health The Villages Hospital. She was ticketed for failure to
yield.
