ABC Channel 3 WEAR TV News reported recently that a South Carolina teen was arrested for his role in a hit-and-run crash on the afternoon of Veteran’s Day in Santa Rosa County on the U.S. Highway 98.
The incident took place near the intersection of U.S. 98 and Navarre Parkway around 3 p.m. last Wednesday, November 11. A South Carolina boy, 16 years of age, was driving a Lexus when he collided with a Toyota Corolla driven by a Navarre woman, 18 years of age, causing the Corolla to turn over. The Toyota driver suffered serious injuries, while the Lexus driver fled the scene of the accident in the still functioning vehicle.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to locate the Lexus the next day. The driver was arrested and taken into custody on charges, including felony hit-and-run and driving without a license.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that the Florida Highway Patrol is still searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in another Florida hit-and-run accident in Charlotte County last Monday that left a motorcycle rider seriously injured. FHP troopers are searching for a white sedan, possibly a Honda, that was traveling south on US Highway 41 near Dahlgren Avenue when it struck a motorcyclist around 5 p.m. on Monday. Anyone with information is asked to contact FHP at Crime Stoppers at 800-780-8477 or *FHP from any cellphone.
