The Orlando Sentinel reported recently that two Kissimmee motorcyclists were killed in a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Osceola County on the evening of Tuesday, February 9.
According to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 between 7:40 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) near the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Vintage Street in the Kissimmee area. Two motorcyclists, a man 25 years of age and a man 63 years of age, were riding west on Orange Blossom Trail, with the 63-year-old rider in the lead. The 63-year-old rider slowed down to make a right turn onto Vintage Street; the younger rider, for unknown reasons still under investigation, failed to slow and impacted the first motorcyclist.
Both riders were ejected from their motorcycles by the force of the impact and landed in the road. They were both taken to Osceola Regional Hospital, but both of them succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident after arriving at the hospital. The accident report indicated the older motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The crash closed all westbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail while the investigation and cleanup took place. The accident is under investigation.
