Fox Channel 13 Tampa Bay News and The Tampa Bay Times reported recently that a birthday trip by three Orlando women ended in a tragic motor vehicle accident last week when their SUV collided with a motorcycle in St Petersburg on the morning of Friday, March 5, 2021.
According to officials with the St Petersburg Police Department, the incident took place on Friday, March 5, 2021 between 4:20 a.m. and 4:25 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) at the intersection of Fourth Street S and Roser Park Drive S in St Petersburg. A woman from Orlando, 49 years old, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV north on Fourth Street S with two passengers, both coworkers of hers at the House of Blues in Orlando. They were out celebrating the birthday of one of her passengers. At the same time, a man from St Petersburg, 33 years of age, was riding a motorcycle south on Fourth Street S.
For reasons unknown and still under investigation, the SUV driver turned left onto Roser Park Drive S, directly into the path of the motorcyclist. The motorcycle slammed into the SUV’s passenger side. The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene of the accident. All three occupants of the SUV were taken to Bayfront Health St Petersburg Hospital. One occupant, a woman 34 years of age, was pronounced dead, and a second, 49 years of age, was in critical condition. The driver was in stable condition following the accident.
