A semi-truck driver seriously injured two people from Safety Harbor after he made an insanely dangerous U-turn on I-275, according to a Tampa Bay Reporter.
Two people riding in a van were injured while traveling southbound on I-275. A northbound semi-truck made an illegal U-turn, intercepting the van while crossing the median to go south at around mile marker 58.
The turn put the truck in the van’s path and caused the accident. Featured images on the Tampa Bay Reporter website show the debris from the van scattered over the roadway.
The police cited the truck driver for making an improper turn. Reports do not reveal whether alcohol or other substances were a contributing factor in the accident. As of the time of the report, It is unknown if he will face other charges.
Seeing a semi-truck make a U-turn across the median of an interstate is certainly an uncommon sight. Most truck drivers know better than to make such a blatant, reckless mistake.
