WFLA NBC Channel 8 On Your Side News reported recently that a pair of Wisconsin siblings were killed on Tuesday, December 29 when a carjacker slammed into their family’s motor vehicle in Daytona Beach while driving the wrong way down Interstate 95.
According to officials with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, December 29 along Interstate 95 in Daytona Beach. The victims’ family was departing from Daytona International Speedway after looking at the Christmas light display there and entered Interstate 95.
Concurrently, a man had allegedly stolen a vehicle from a pizza delivery driver and fled, chased at high speed by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office The suspect had allegedly had dozens for prior arrests, been incarcerated in state prison no less than eight separate times, and had no driver’s license. In the process of attempting to elude the Sheriff’s deputies in pursuit, the suspect entered the traffic lanes of Interstate 95 going the wrong way, opposite of traffic, and collided head-on at an extremely high rate of speed with the family vehicle of a Wisconsin family. A young man, 21 years of age, and his sister, 18 years of age, were killed in the collision while two others, ages 13 and 17, were severely injured in the accident.
